2Face Idibia Urges Youth to Eschew Violence at a Peace Concert in Ekiti State.

On June 22, NDI’s partners, Youngstars Development Initiative (YDI) and New Generation Girls and Women Development Initiative (NIGAWD) held a #VoteNotFight Peace Concert in Ado-Ekiti. The objective of the concert was to promote peaceful and constructive youth participation in the July 14 governorship election.

The main campaign message is for youth to make a smart choice for the future by shunning violence.

The strategy was to use music, entertainment and the celebrity appeal of the #VoteNotFight campaign ambassador, Innocent Uja Idibia (Also known as 2Face Idibia) to promote campaign messages. During the concert, #VoteNotFight campaign messages were disseminated at intervals in-between music performances and standup comedy from Ekiti-based artists and comedians.

The main campaign message is for youth to make a smart choice for the future by shunning violence. There were press statements by 2face Idibia, goodwill messages from Public Relations Officers of INEC and the Nigerian Police Force. 2Face Idibia was billed to hold peace meetings with Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose and the candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP). The meetings could not hold due to flight cancellation and late arrival of the musician. In the coming weeks, NDI partner in Ekiti state, NIGAWD will follow-up to secure peaceful elections pledges from the targeted candidates. NDI supported YDI and NIGAWD in planning, refined the concert agenda, tasks checklists.
